SQUARE ENIX CAFE Tokyo first opened its doors on October 1, 2016 in Akihabara, Tokyo. The cafe is filled with memorabilia from all of Square's franchises, such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts to even the niche SaGa and Octopath Traveler. Food and drinks available are all designed to showcase various characters and places from the games. Since its opening, the cafe has been a host to various collaboration events with different Square Enix games, usually to commemorate a launch or anniversary of the title.

SQUARE ENIX CAFE Osaka opened a year later on October 14, 2017 in Umeda, Osaka. Square Enix's first international branch, SQUARE ENIX CAFE Shanghai, opened on December 17, 2017.
